AIDS awareness / Red ribbon express train halts at Chennai Central

AIDS awareness train or the red ribbon express with its eight air conditioned coach arrived at Platform 11 at the Chennai Central .
After a five-month long tour across the country to raise AIDS awareness, Red Ribbon Express reached Chennai at around 8am in the morning.
The train has 8 coaches, including a conference room for closed door training programs, a HIV testing and counselling centre and blood donation centre. But, this is the first time an entire coach was dedicated to the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM). The NRHM was providing awareness on dengue, malaria, wine and tuberculosis. "It was useful learning from posters the first symptoms of dengue and swine flu especially at this time," said a nursing assistant who attended the program.
The blood test and donation coaches were instant hits on Sunday, with 61 people offering to donate blood and 144 people stepping forward to get tested for HIV.
