While speaking to the press reporters in New Delhi, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr O. Panneerselvam informed to wait and watch the next step of activities very shortly.
With this express statement, it is expected that there is a possibility whether the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister would defy the ban and allow Jallikkattu to be conducted in the state.
The Tamil Nadu Chief Minster met with the Prime Minister regarding this issue today (Thursday, 19th January). He stressed on the necessity to have an an emergency ordinance to allow Jallikkattu in Tamil Nadu.
The Prime Minister responded that there cannot be any emergency in the present scenario when the case on the issue is pending in the Supreme Court.
However, at the same time, the Prime Minister assured the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister that the central government would support the initiatives taken by the state government.
Subsequently, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, while in a session with the press reporters, asked to wait and watch the next initiatives taken by his government.
This statement has led to a lot of confusion among the Tamilians. There is an expectation whether the Tamil Nadu CM would allow Jallikkattu defying the Supreme Court ban.
Also, the Tamil Nadu public is all agog waiting with a feverish expectation of some drastic announcement.
