Rs 480 Crores new currencies were distributed: RBI

RBI�s Regional Director, Chennai, J.Sadakkadulla has mentioned that in lieu of void Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes, Rs 480 Crores new currencies were distributed. He while speaking to the media said: For the convenience of the public to exchange the old 500 and 1000 notes, 8 special counters were opened in the Reserve Bank Of India. Rs 54000 Crores were brought to Chennai in 270 boxes from Reserve Bank Of India, Yesterday alone, Rs 480 Crores were distributed from this amount at banks and post offices. From today a person will be allowed to withdraw Rs 2000 only from ATM.
