Polling booths in private buildings

Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Lakhoni said on Monday that he has received representations seeking to have polling booths in private buildings, which has more than 750 persons in one place. He also added that they are examining the possibility in Chennai, Tambaram and Kancheepuram.
At a time when the assembly elections are over, EC has started its next stage of works. Mr. Lakhoni also said that the Commission was planning to conduct a sample survey in 10 per cent of the constituencies in all districts, where the polling percentage was poor. In Chennai, all constituencies would be covered. EC is planning to complete it by June 30.
