More takers for Arts and Science groups

Students who have completed 12th standard are actively applying for medical, engineering and arts courses. The are more takers for arts and science courses when compared to engineering colleges. Takers for engineering courses are declining this year also like the previous year. Various college principals say that lots of students have applied for B.Com seats.
In Tamil Nadu, the arts and science colleges have started issuing applications from 2nd May. In order to attract the bright students who score high marks, the Government colleges have started issuing applications much in advance. The last date for submission of applications was 26th May. Today is the last day to submit the filled applications in few government colleges.
As on 26th May more number of applications was issued when compared to last year. In earlier days, plus 2 students were craving for engineering seats. But this trend changed during the year 2011. Students lost the interest for engineering seats and started pursuing arts and science subjects. This has increased in this year 2016-2017 also.
College education authorities are doubtful whether university will give it�s nod to colleges to expand arts/sciences admissions.
