Family card will not be acceptable when applying for passport

It has been announced that family cards will not be acceptable as proof while applying for passport.
Internet website: www.passportindia.gov.in gives all the details about the procedure for applying for passport regarding the documents of proof required.
In a latest measure, family card has been removed from the list of documents required as proof of address.
Central government issued this order to the Ministry of External Affairs which accepted the same. So, it has been announced that family card will not acceptable as proof of residence while applying for passport.
Applicants need not attach Xerox copies of family cards henceforth while applying for passport.
This rule will be effective from 1st April.
