Immense arrangements are being made in Thirunageswaram temple for Rahu Peyarchi 2016 poojas which is to take place on 8th January.
Sri Naganathaswamy Temple or Rahu Sthalam is one of the 9 Navagraha Temples around Kumbakkonam and is dedicated to Rahu. The temple for Rahu is located in the south west corner of the temple. Raahu Bhagwan (serpent deity) is seen here with his two consorts Nagavalli and Nagakanni. Milk abhishekam is performed to Raahu Bhagawan by devotees in this temple. The specialty is that when milk abhishekam is performed to Raahu Bhagawan, the milk turns blue.
Rahu who appears in this temple as Mangala Rahu will remove the Kala-Sarba Dosham, Sarpa dosha, Kalathra Dosha and Puthira Dosham from the devotees who worship him.
Raahu Bhagawan will move from Kanni rasi to Simha rasi at 12.37 PM on 8th January.
It is said that those who are born in mesham, vrishabham, simham, kanya, tula, vrichikam, makaram, kumbham and kadagam should do Pariharams.
The first phase of the laksharchana will be held from January 4th to January 6, 2016.
The second phase of the laksharchana will be held from January 11th to January 14th, 2016.
Special abhishekam will be performed for the deity at the temple on 8th January. There will be Maha Deeparadhana at 12.37 PM. Rahu deity will be taken in velli rishaba vahanam in the streets in the evening.
