Rains will subside in the city till Friday according to the Meteorological department. Experts say that there is an upper air cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal off the coast of Andhra Pradesh. This is likely to bring rainfall to places over interior Tamil Nadu in the north. However, lesser rain is likely till Friday.
Wednesday was a hot day in Chennai. The temperature was two degrees higher than the average this time of year. Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam weather stations recorded a high of 31.9 degrees Celsius. There was scanty rainfall in these areas. Experts expect increased rainfall only from Saturday.
The forecast for Thursday shows cloudy weather with rain in just some parts of the city. The temperature will be around 33 degrees Celsius.
