General Secretary of the Nadigar Sangam Vishal has said that the association will remain politically neutral. The first executive meeting comprising of the new team was held in Chennai on Sunday. It was led by elected President Nasser.
Mr. Vishal addressed the press after the meeting. The Nadigar Sangam would not coerce its members to participate in any political protests. We feel the elected government of Tamil Nadu is best placed to speak on behalf of Tamils on major political issues like Cauvery water crisis. Henceforth, Nadigar Sangam will remain neutral... (Our) main task would be to construct a state-of-the-art building for the association that would become a tourist attraction for Chennai. Those who are visiting Chennai must make it a point to visit Nadigar Sangam. That is our goal, he said.
The actor also said that Kamal Haasan has agreed to be one of the trustees for the organisation. The Nadigar Sangam will have nine trustees in all.
