Diwali this year is gathering pace and there are awareness campaign launched by manufacturers in our country insisting the purchaser of Made in India crackers. They are in full swing awareness campaign through radio to fight against illegal import of crackers from china.
This issue of illegal import of crackers is taken to both central and state governments. G. Abiruben, the President of Tamil Nadu Fireworks and Amorces Manufacturers` Association (TANFA MA) says a ten day radio campaign will be launched by the association. This will begin on 1st of November and inform people about the extent of safety of Indian crackers.
There are lakhs of people involved in the industry. In this campaign, we will tell the people about how crackers made in China affects the livelihood of people here. When the Made in India concept is promoted among the public, it is believed to surge purchase of Indian crackers.
The campaign will be aired as 20-second capsules in almost all Indian languages. This will be made throughout the day across the nation. The safety and standard of Indian crackers will be interviewed with the cracker dealers and vendors and it will be aired for three days.
When asked about why they chose radio as the medium for campaign, Mr Abiruben said dealers and consumers suggested the idea and they decided to go ahead with radio this year. The total worth of fireworks industry is Rs 6000 crore and due to Chinese crackers, about 30 percent of the business is badly affected, he added.
