Central Government exploring ban of gifts/presents to the doctors from pharmaceutical firms!

The central government is planning to ban the trend of pharmaceutical companies giving concessions to doctors in the form of gifts/presents or cash.
The department of Medicine of the central government has formed the rules and regulations to be followed by pharmaceutical companies. These came into effect from 11th January this year.
As per the regulations, the trend of pharmaceutical companies giving gifts, cash or tourism ravel offers was left as per the preference of the pharmaceutical firms.
However, a senior government official informed that the government is contemplating to make this regulation compulsory in a few months time.
This regulation will apply to all pharmaceutical firms and also the companies who manufacture medical equipment
.
There is a strong trend of various pharmaceutical companies giving a variety of concessions to the doctors in order to get their products prescribed.
Now, the central government is taking steps to check and control this trend.
