CCTVs to be installed in 26 suburban railway stations

There is an avid focus on passenger safety in the route as there have been several complaints on gang robbery on the western suburban railway line on the Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) route.
A senior officer of GRP said that 26 suburban railway stations have been identified for installing CCTVs as part of an Integrated-Security System (ISS), which is in place at Chennai Central and Egmore railway stations.
On the MRTS stretch, nine stations including Park Town, Chintadripet, Triplicane, Light House, Thirumayilai, Thiruvanmiyur and Velacherry, have been identified. Similarly Mambalam, Perambur, Korukkupet, Villivakkam, Thiruninravur and Tiruvottiyur are among the 26 railway stations identified for the project. A minimum of 10 cameras would be fitted in all these 26 railway stations.
