12,000 police personnel to oversea Ganesh idol immersion

On the occasion of Vinayaka Chaturthi, Lord Ganesha idols have been instilled in 2400 places for worship with police security. 12,000 police have been deployed to maintain smooth flow of traffic and to ensure public safety and order in connection with Ganesh idol immersion processions on September 20, 21 and 23 the city police are imposing traffic restrictions in the city from 1500 hours on each of the dates.
In the city, the idols would be allowed for immersion in the sea at Srinivasapuram in Pattinapakkam, Kasimedu fishing harbour and Tiruvottiyur in North Chennai and Palkalai Nagar in Neelankarai.
