International Coastal Clean-up at Marina on Saturday

The International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) is the world`s largest, one-day volunteer effort to clean up the marine environment. Every September, volunteers from over 100 countries descend on local beaches, rivers, lakes and canals to show their commitment to cleaner waterways.
This year, the challenge will be taken up again on Saturday, September 19.
Rear admiral (retired) K. R. Srinivasan, vice-president of Indian Maritime Foundation (IMF), said the 30th edition of the ICC, will be inaugurated in Chennai around 6.45 a.m. on Saturday behind Gandhi Statue on Marina beach.
The main objective of the cleanup is to showcase clean coastal areas to public.
