Free competitive exam coaching for the blind

Posted on: 11/Sep/2015 1:04:58 PM
National Blinds Network together with Ambedkar Education and Employment Training Center are providing coaching for the blind for boldly facing competitive examinations.

The training is given by candidates who prepare for such competitive examinations. This has largely helped them in getting motivated for such exams. A petition was filed with the High Court seeking 3 percent reservation for the blind under the Disabilities Protection Act. This petition was replied stating the central government to send a detailed report on the reservations made for the blind since 2008 the year when the act came into effect.

The central government has thus decided to fill over 14,267 vacant positions with the physically challenged. Out of this, 3 one-third of the positions will be reserved for blinds. This accounts to 3,690 positions.

For grabbing these positions, they need to undergo competitive examinations for which the National blinds network have come forward to provide free coaching in Varadharajapuram, Coimbatore.

Speaking about this, the coordinator of the coaching, D. Sadhasivam said there should be good enhancement of the overall financial status of the blind which can be possible only through proper job. Vacant positions with the government in over 42 departments are set to get filled with the blind. We have decided to provide the necessary training and coaching for the same. We were ready to pay Rs 50,000 for training them between 1st of September and 31st of October. However, no organization came forward for the training. It was at this juncture that the Ambedkar Education and Employment Training Center came forward to provide free training to all the blind. The exclusive feature here is that the lectures are taken by previous toppers and candidates who are currently preparing for the exam.
