2nd & 4th Saturdays to be Bank holidays: effective from 1st September

Central government has approved the proposal to the banks to remain closed on 2nd & 4th Saturday of every month.
All India Bank Employees Association General Secretary Mr. C. H. Venkatachalam, in an interview informed that the long-pending demand of the bank employees has been accorded.
This will be effective from 1st September. He informed that the central government has released this announcement and it is very much welcome to bank employees and well appreciated.
For the months which have 5 Saturdays, the banks will be closed only for the 2nd & 4th Saturdays. 5th Saturday will be a working day.
Currently, all public & private sector banks work for half-a-day on all Saturdays.
