Redecorate your home for the monsoons

Monsoons will hit the city in a few months. Some love it, and some dread the dampness and gloom that come with it. Have you noticed that your home feels different with different season too? How best to have a light and comfy home during the wet months?
For one, do your pre-monsoon cleaning now. Put out the rugs, mattresses, pillows and cushions, bedsheets and sofa covers out in the sun. Beat the dust out of them. You can�t do this when it is pouring outside, or the ground is wet.
Create a new feel in your home. Put away all the expensive artefacts and show pieces that you have in your living room. Make your drawing room an earthy place that is minimalistic. There will be lesser things to be damp.
Be prepared. Get new moist proof sofa covers. Bring out the makeshift clothes hanger in advance and start using it. Get the umbrella bins out and place them near your door (you could use an umbrella against the sweltering sun as well). Invest in some good doormats - you don`t want muddy, mucky feet or shoe prints in the house.
Get all the plants that do not need excessive watering into the house. If you have vertical blinds, replace them with airy, light drapes. This will let the cool breeze and the smell of rain waft pleasantly through your home. Fill your home with bright colours that will light up your heart.
Finally, don`t forget to enjoy the pouring rain or the light drizzle with the people you love.
