The Martin Aircraft Company has announced that the first ever commercial jetpack will be available for sale in 2016. The Martin Jetpack has finally been designed after 35 years of research and development.
The jetpack will be able to fly at speeds up to 46 miles per hour, which is 74 kms per hour! It is powered by a 200 HP V4 petrol engine and will be able to carry up to 265 pounds. Its price will be around $150,000.
I think the first responders will see that as a massive improvement to their capability. So, for example, in the fire services going around to look at the situational awareness of whats going on, perhaps through water security or even search and rescue on beach patrol, something along those lines. Naturally for the ambulance service getting to a point of importance of rescuing people in the shortest possible time. So theres a lot of uses within that first responder environment, said the CEO of Martin Aircraft Company, Peter Coker.
