Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the �Selfie with Daughter� contest as part of his �Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao� (Save your daughter, teach your daughter) campaign which aims to decrease female infanticide in the country, part of the �Save the Girl Child� drive.
Speaking at his monthly radio address, �Mann Ki Baat�, Mr. Modi has urged fathers and daughters nationwide to take selfies and post them on twitter with the hashtag #selfiewithdaughter. He also expressed concern on the decreasing sex ratio in the country. �Indians should celebrate Raksha Bandhan in August by enrolling the women, who work in their home and fields, in social security programs which the government has recently launched�, he said.
Mr. Modi also tweeted, �I urge all of you, share a #SelfieWithDaughter. Also share a tagline that will encourage `Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao` : PM @narendramodi�
