Free Android app provides info on local bus and train routes

With an aim to reduce the waiting time of passengers at bus stops and train stations, a team at IIT Madras has developed an Android application called �Raft� which provides up-to-date information about routes and time tables of Chennai MTC buses and suburban trains
The team has collected information on all the bus and suburban train routes from the concerned authorities which can be accessed by downloading the free �Raft� application from Google Store
Since the data is stored on a server, the user needs to have a Wi-Fi or 3G connection to access the data through the app.
The app has the following features:
- Simple user interface to get all possible permutations of route numbers with time between two places.
- Lean on resources and does not consume much data or battery.
- Database of over 6000 bus stops and 1500 bus routes
