World Book and Copyright Day on 23rd April

In order to pay a world-wide tribute to books and authors for their contributions toward promotion of literature, the �World Book and Copyright Day� will be marked on April 23 across the world including India. Different organizations will mark the day with literary activities to promote book reading culture and remember those who have made outstanding contributions to social and cultural progress.
Copyright is a legal concept, enacted by most governments, giving the creator of original work exclusive rights to it, usually for a limited time.
The 23rd of April is significant for the world of literature because it was on this day in 1616 that Cervantes Saavedra, William Shakespeare, Inca Garcilaso de la Vega died. As far as Chennai is concerned, the Chennai Puthaga Sangamam�s book exhibition is going on.
