EPFO launches Short Code SMS service

Short Code SMS service through which the beneficiaries can get SMS, detailing the contribution, balance details has been launched by The Employees� Provident Fund Organization. Last year EPFO launched Universal Account Number programme, allotting the UAN to all the members and different services such as passbook, monthly SMS of contributions were provided on its activation on EPFO�s UAN portal http://uanmembers.epfoservices.in/
The Short Code SMS service would be available to members who had activated the UAN. A member who had activated his UAN could send an SMS from his/ her registered mobile number in the pre-defined format to 77382 99899. The format of the SMS was EPFOHO UAN followed by first three characters of preferred language. This facility was available in 10 different languages � English, Hindi, Telugu, Punjabi, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil and Bengali.
For example, if a member desired to receive SMS in Tamil, he/ she should send an SMS as EPFOHO UAN TAM to 77382 99899. The EPFO would send the members details available with it along with details of the KYC seeded, last contribution and Total PF balance.
