Selective entries and exits of central station to remain shut

As a move to reduce heavy crowd on platforms, the platform ticket was increased following which here is a new move by the Chennai Central station. It is to close all the exits and entry points at night time.
A three-tier security will be formed by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) so as to prevent loitering by the public within the station. People walking inside the station will be monitored by armed policemen and all travel and platform tickets will be checked by armed policemen. No vehicle of individuals who come for dropping the passengers will be allowed to get parked within the station. A new plan is getting evolved for car parking. One of the GRP officers say necessary measures will be taken to rehabilitate mentally sick persons and the beggars who lie outside the station. Selective entries and exits will be kept closed during night � between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. Central station has 13 such points, say officials. On closing this, the entire station will be combed. Former zonal railway users� consultative committee member, K.S. Gopalakrishnan said there are many platform dwellers, mainly during summer.
