The tripartite discussions to settle the issue of Bank employees� proposal to go on strike for 4 days as a protest awaiting their various demands including wage revision has not reached an agreement.
As such, it has been decided to hold a meeting between Indian Banks� Association and the representatives of the Bank Employees� Unions on 23rd February.
This news was informed by the secretary of All India Bank Employees Association, Mr. Venkatachalam.
The tripartite meeting was conducted led by the Central Government Labour Welfare commissioner, 9 representatives of the All India Bank Employees� Association and Indian Employees Association participated.
The secretary told that there was insistence that the plans to go on strike should be stopped first. However, this was rejected by the representatives of the All India Bank Employees� Association..
However, the proposal to conduct another meeting with Indian Banks Association on Monday, 23rd February, was accepted.
The secretary Mr. Venkatachalam informed that if there are no agreements reached in this meeting on 23rd February, the bank employees will go on strike for 4 days from 25th February till 28th February and then will plan to go on indefinite strike from 16th March.
The recent information gathered indicates that the bank employees have asked for 19.5% raise in salary whereas the administration had proposed 13% raise.
