Every year Rathasapthami festival is conducted with fervor at Lord Venkateswara temple. Yesterday the annual Rathasapthami festival was conducted. About two lakh devotees participated in this devotional event.
Rathasapthami is conducted on the day of `Surya Jayanthi` on the seventh day of `Magha Maasa` annually.
As part of the festival, the centuries-old utsav idol of Lord Venkateswara, adorned with several gem set ornaments mounted on `seven sacred golden vahanas` (carriers), was taken out in a procession around the shrine separately at different intervals from dawn to night .
The fete commenced with a grand procession of `Surya Prabha Vahana` and concluded with `Chandra Prabha Vahana` procession.
