Padma awards for Amitabh Bachchan and Rajnikanth

There is news that the Central Government has announced Padma Awards for 148 personalities including yoga master Ram Dev, actors Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan.
Padma Awards, the country�s highest civilian awards, are conferred in three categories, namely, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. The Awards are given in all disciplines/ fields of activities, viz. art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, civil service, etc. �Padma Vibhushan� is awarded for exceptional and distinguished service; �Padma Bhushan� for distinguished service of high order and �Padma Shri� for distinguished service in any field.
This year the Padma Awards will be given to 148 people.
Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan, noted yoga guru Baba Ram dev, southern superstar Rajnikanth and Shiromani Akali Dal patron and Chief Minister of Punjab Parkash Singh Badal may also be honoured with Padma awards this year.
Besides the above-mentioned celebrities, Hindi cinema veteran Dilip Kumar, noted film director-producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali, script writer and lyricist Salim Khan and renowned ad film-maker Prasoon Joshi`s names also figures in the list of hopefuls for this year`s Padma awards
