The central government has given approval to authorise the state governments to fix the price of ration sugar.
This decision was taken during the meeting of cabinet ministers on the economic affairs.
It is also gathered that the the state governments will be given a subsidy of Rs. 18.50 per kg of sugar bought by them for sales in the ration shops.
Sugar in the rations shops is sold at the rate of Rs. 13.50 per kg over the last 13 years.
