Mr. Venkaiah Naidu, the central minister for urban development & parliamentary affairs, has ordered that biometric attendance system to be implemented in his departments offices.
The minister conducted a surprise check on yesterday, 28th July in the office of his ministry. He found several seats were not occupied. Also, around 80 employees were not available in their seats.
The mister asked the officers to demand an explanation for this.
He also ordered for immediate implementation of biometric attendance system in all his offices.
He also insisted that the senior officers should conduct frequent checks on the punctuality of the employees. He insisted that those who are more than 15 minutes late for the office must not be allowed to sign the attendance register. This should be considered as absence and pay must be deducted for that particular day.
It is to be noted that the minister for information and broadcasting, Mr. Prakash Javadekar, also conducted a similar surprise check and found that more than 40 employees had not come on time he ordered that they should be marked as being on leave.
Once the biometric attendance system is introduced in these 2 ministry offices, it is proposed to gradually introduce the same in all other offices and then in all central government offices.
