City burns on hottest day in 7 yrs

The city was grilled on Friday, with temperatures hit ting the highest level in seven years and touching a maximum of 42.8�C.
Chennai last recorded a higher temperature on May 16, 2007, when the maximum was 0.2�C higher than on Friday , at 43�C. On May 31, 2003, the Met office measured a maximum of 45�C.
