City populace will not be adept to take pleasure in the ease and luxury of striking a single card over several modes of transport, in the upcoming prospect.

A while back, when the thought of a common ticketing system was argued, it has to be put into practice only by the time Chennai Metro Rail inaugurated its services and it will take more than six months right away.

According to the Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) officials, travelers who are using the swipe card at the Metro stations will be improbable to use the same on several modes of transport including trains and buses.

The Metropolitan Transport Corporation and Southern Railway authorities have to offer the push for this approach.

This system may take a year or even more than 5 years to roll up into effect. We are in the waiting phase for getting the approval from related agencies. Once it is done, placing and integration of the apparatus will be done faster, said the CMRL official

Nearly about 32 systems have been integrated in this card; in future commuters can use this card for various modes of transport including buses, trains, and auto rickshaws and even in supermarkets, sources added.

So as to enhance the metro ridership, till now CMRL has took many initiatives to fetch intermodal assimilation.
