Entire counting process to be video graphed: Election Commission

Chief electoral officer Praveen Kumar had mentioned that the counting will start for all 39 Lok Sabha constituencies and Alandur assembly by-election at 8am on May 16. The postal ballots will be taken up first for counting and only after a gap of 30 minutes, the EVMs will be opened for counting.
59 counting observers will be deployed in 39 constituencies while one observer will oversee counting in Alandur.
The officer said only counting supervisors, assistants and micro observers, persons authorized by the EC, officials connected with the elections and the candidates and their poll and counting agents will be allowed inside the counting centres.
Others, including the media, will be barred from entering the centers. Mobile phones and other electronic gadgets have been banned on the premises of the counting centers. But, election officials can use laptops for transmitting results, the CEO said. The entire counting process, including opening of the strong room and bringing of EVMs to the counting hall, will be video graphed.
