Work to furnish the walkers plaza is ready to start up in T.Nagar, once after the poll results are out. It visualizes a stretch of 1.4 km from Panagal Park to Anna Salai via Pondy Bazaar. It serves the purpose of both walking and cycling. This project is set at a predictable cost of 40 Crores.
A
part of the stretch from Panagal Park to Dr Nair Road intersection will be
limited for two-wheelers and cars. In the two-lane road, one side will be
allotted for the MTC buses and other side is for the cyclists. All modes of
vehicles will be allowed to traverse from the North and south junction of the
Boag road to Anna Salai.
This
project is a complete stretch of concrete track for both the bicycle and pedestrian
and it will go on for a year to finish it off.
Additionally,
we are planned to permit the battery-functioned cars for senior citizens and
the physically challenged, said the corporation official. This project may helps in reducing the
traffic congestion, as many planned traffic deviations has already been set,
official said.
The pedestrian path will be placed with the granite and entwined with tiles, the official said. Artistic benches and shields for walkers will be placed along the stretches. Children play area has also be planned in addition.
