Technical way to battle mosquitoes in Chennai

Despite implementation of several traditional methods like use of chemical pesticides, fogging, release of Gambusia fish into water bodies, etc, controlling mosquito menace has always been tough. A slight out-of-the-box thinking is necessary to handle the troublesome issue. The city corporation has slewed its thinking towards finding a technologically advanced method to grapple with diseases caused by these vectors. The city corporation has now come up with a new plan to develop a new mobile application that will keep track of fieldworks carried out by over 5000 workers who are deployed to visit houses for eliminating mosquito breeding there. This app is meant to send alerts about dengue at house, schools or other places through SMS or email.
Speaking to one of the corporation officials, he said that the corporation aims to monitor what exactly happens on ground with the use of technology. He added that an application is already in use, but it is for tablet devices. This time, a device for android mobile phones is developed and is expected to be of great help.
