Mohan Verghese Chunkath - new chief secretary of Tamil Nadu

A 1978 batch IAS officer Mohan Verghese Chunkath officer from Thrissur in Kerala, will be the next chief secretary of Tamil Nadu. Since Chunkath�s appointment has come in the midst of the general elections, the state government sought and obtained the Election Commission�s clearance for the same.
He will take over the reins from incumbent Sheela Balakrishnan who will retire on March 31. Chunkath will assume office on April 1.
Verghese, an additional chief secretary, is currently principal secretary, environment and forests department. He will also hold full additional charge of vigilance commissioner and commissioner for administrative reforms.
