The engineering and electronics conglomerate Toshiba has introduced advanced MRI scan in India. The instrument was launched in a function at Chennai yesterday. Dr Gopal introduced aculant cardiac CT, MNRI scan and HD 1.5 MRI scanning equipments during the event. The doctor gave a brief on these machines. Excerpts are as follows:
The aculant cardiac equipment is used for complete body scanning: detection of heart attack, heartbeat, etc. With this, the scanning can be done within very short time span. It can separate the blood and bones very easily. Similarly, the 1.5D MRI scan can be used to scan brain, heart and chest cancer. This gives output in 3D. It can be used on patients suffering from severe health ailments like the ones in ICU. It can depict the scanned parts in eight different ways. Wrist, skin, knee joint, etc can be viewed with very high clarity. As it can project very tiny portions in larger scale, it will be of great help.
