Online registration for list of beneficiaries - Pongal free dhoti, sari

The Tamil Nadu Government has been giving free dhotis and saris during the special occasion of Pongal to the poor families. Till last year, these Pongal gifts were distributed through ration shops and the respective VAOs (Village Administration Officers).
This year, the government is planning to record all the data by computersing. This work was started at Utthiramerur Taluk, Kancheepuram district. The details of ration card numbers, the house head�s name, address, income and other data is entered on the computer. Better statistics can be obtained and frauds can be minimized by this. VAOs have been given laptos. Work is in progress in 11 taluks. It is estimated that there are 11 lakh eligible people in this district.
As many VAOs are not well-versed to use laptops, outsiders have been appointed to do this work. VAOs will pay them.
