Cold weather in Chennai

After many years, there seems to be a severe cold weather in Chennai for the last few days.
Minimum temperatures in the city saw a dip on Sunday with the continuing cool weather in the city. The minimum temperature dipped by one degree from normal temperature in Nungambakkam and was reported at 20.5 degree Celsius and by 1.7 degree at the Meenambakkam station going down to 19.4 degree Celsius.
While the cool weather is expected to continue in the coming days, there are no immediate prospects of rainfall. Chennai is currently facing a deficit of around 40 percent this season. The sky is predicted to be partly cloudy and early morning mist may occur in some areas. �The weather is expected to remain cool but there is no indication of any major dip or a cold wave. There are no reports of any major rains,� said S R Ramanan, Director of Area Cyclone Warning, Regional Meteorological Centre.
