Efficient teachers must be encouraged by educational institutions

The new 4-Stroeyed building in the Loyola College campus was inaugurated yesterday. The alumni of Loyola College contributed Rs. 11 Crore to construct building meant for commerce and economics study. The president of India, while declaring the building open, spoke that when Loyola College was started, it had the student strength of 75. Today, it has risen to 11,000. The educational institutions can impart patriotism and culture to the studentas while taking them on the progressive path. The educational institutions should arrest the current trend of decadence and instill the virtues of education.
India stands second in the world in the field of higher education. However, the percentage of students between the age of 17 to 24 who seek higher education is only 7%. Steps must be taken to include students even from small villages to higher education. The teachers have the noble role of imparting the values of education, good behavior, and virtues. Such efficient teachers must be encouraged and appreciated.
The book, �Loyola � the look inside�, was released on the occasion by the Tamil Nadu Governor, Mr. Rosaiah. Loyola College head, Mr. Jayapathi Francis, the treasurer, Mr Albert William, and the vice-principal, Mr. Ramamurthy participated on the occasion.
The 28th All India Engineers� conference was conducted yesterday by the Tamil Nadu Branch of the All India Institute of Engineers. The President, Mr, Pranab Mukherjee participated. The federation president, Mr. Rathore presided. The cerntal minister for shipping, Mr. G K Vasan also participated. The special issue marking the occasion was released by the governor, Mr. Rosaiah.
The president observed that India has registered considerable progress in several fields over the last few decades with the healthy contribution from the engineers and technologists. All efforts must be taken to raise a strong group of technologists and engineers to make India a stronger force in the global arena.
