Chennai Central Metro station to be located opposite the Central railway station
The largest underground station Chennai Central Metro station sprawling over 70,000 sq.m will be located opposite the Central railway station. There will be six entries/ exits of the Chennai Central Metro station.
 
There will be a bus bay next to the entry/exit and the facility may function along the lines of the arrangement where buses enter and exit Central railway station. That apart, there will be a ventilation shaft (an air passage to facilitate ventilation underground) and ancillary equipments and buildings required for the working of this station.
 
There will be some space allocated for parking in a basement underneath the land. CMRL plans to create parking space for about 500 cars and 1000 two-wheelers for the Chennai Central Metro station.
 
Also there will be airport check-in facility in one of the basement levels there which will allow air passengers to complete the check-in procedures at the station itself.
