Gold prices in Chennai continued their upward trend on May 6, 2026, bringing fresh concern for jewellery buyers and investors across Tamil Nadu.
According to the latest evening market update, the price of 22-carat gold increased by ₹50 per gram and is now trading at ₹14,100 per gram. The steady rise in gold prices comes amid strong global market demand and ongoing economic uncertainty.
Similarly, 18-carat gold prices also witnessed an increase of ₹50 per gram, taking the rate to ₹11,770 per gram in Chennai’s jewellery market.
Silver prices also moved sharply upward during the evening session. The price of silver increased by ₹5 and is currently being sold at ₹275 per gram.
