Government earns Rs. 60 Lakhs in a month by running mini-buses!

The recently introduced minibus service has been a success. The government has earned over Rs. 60 Lakhs in a month�s period.
During the budget presentation in the year 2012, the Ministry of transport announced the proposal to run minibuses in the areas where people do not have any access to transportation.
Following this, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa inaugurated the min-bus service on October 2. Minibuses run for a maximum distance of 12.5 km. The minibus tickets are priced between Rs. 5 to Rs.8. The minibus service has become quite popular as it offers safety and comfort.
In all the routes where minibuses have been introduced, the buses are crowded especially during the mornings and evenings. On some routes, there is a good crowd throughout the running period. Since the last one month the minibuses have been in service, the transport department has earned Rs. 60 Lakhs.
Following this success, the public has put up a demand to start minibus services in the routes where shared-autos ply.
