In view of ongoing renovation works at Chennai Egmore railway station, the Southern Railway has announced that 8 express trains will temporarily halt at Mambalam railway station until April 5.
The move has been implemented to ease passenger movement during continuous redevelopment work at Egmore station.
Express Trains Stopping at Mambalam (Till April 5)
The following trains will now halt at Mambalam Railway Station:
Egmore – Tiruchirappalli (Cholan Express)
Egmore – Kanyakumari Express
Egmore – Puducherry Express
Egmore – Sengottai Express
Egmore – Nellai Express
Egmore – Madurai Express
Egmore – Mannargudi Express
Egmore – Salem Express
Passengers traveling to Tiruchirappalli, Kanyakumari, Puducherry, Sengottai, Tirunelveli, Madurai, Mannargudi, and Salem can board and alight at Mambalam during this temporary arrangement.
Egmore Station Platform Changes
Due to continuous modernization and redevelopment works:
- From the 20th onwards, suburban EMU trains will be operated from Platforms 5 and 6 at Egmore.
- For the past 10 days, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM, both electric and express trains were operated from Platforms 5 and 6.
- As renovation work continues both day and night, EMU services that were earlier operated from Platforms 10 and 11 will now be fully shifted to express train platforms.
Southern Railway has requested passengers to check platform details and train schedules before travel to avoid inconvenience.
