Republic Day 2026: Chennai Metro Trains to Run on Sunday Schedule Today

On the occasion of Republic Day, which is being celebrated across the country today (Monday, January 26, 2026), Chennai Metro Rail services will operate as per the Sunday timetable. Since Republic Day is a public holiday, passenger footfall is expected to be lower than usual.
According to an official announcement by Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), metro train services will run from 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM today following the Sunday schedule.
As per the revised timetable:
- Trains will run at 7-minute intervals from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM
- 10-minute intervals from 5:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM
- 15-minute intervals from 10:00 PM to 11:00 PM
Passengers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly.
