To facilitate safe and convenient travel for lakhs of pilgrims during the annual pilgrimage season, Indian Railways has announced special train services for Sabarimala Ayyappa devotees. These services will connect major cities across South India to Kollam, a key transit point for devotees visiting the Sabarimala temple.
According to the Salem Railway Division, the Narasapur–Kollam special train will depart on December 27 at 1:00 PM, reaching Kollam the next night at 10:00 PM, with halts at important stations such as Vijayawada, Tirupati, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, and Podanur. The return service will leave Kollam on December 29 at 2:30 AM.
Additionally, the Charlapalli–Kollam special trains will operate on January 10 and 17, departing at 10:30 AM, and will reach Kollam the following night at 10:00 PM. Return journeys are scheduled on January 12 and 19, departing Kollam at 2:30 AM. These trains also stop at major junctions including Secunderabad, Dharmavaram, Katpadi, Salem, and Erode.
These special train services aim to reduce travel congestion, ensure timely arrivals, and provide a comfortable and hassle-free journey for devotees undertaking the sacred Sabarimala pilgrimage.
