Puzhal Lake Increases Outflow to 1,500 Cusecs as Water Level Rises to 20 Feet After Heavy Rain

The outflow from Puzhal Lake has been increased to 1,500 cusecs as continuous heavy rain has significantly raised the inflow into the reservoir. With water levels rising steadily, authorities have intensified surplus water discharge as a precautionary measure.
Puzhal Lake, which has a full capacity of 21.20 feet, has now reached 20 feet. Due to the sustained rainfall, the inflow has surged to 2,930 cusecs, prompting officials to regulate the outflow to prevent flooding in downstream areas.
The Water Resources Department is closely monitoring the situation as rain continues across Chennai and its surrounding regions, ensuring timely action to manage reservoir levels safely.
