TN Registration Dept: Property Owner’s Mobile Number Now Mandatory

The Tamil Nadu Registration Department has updated the STAR 2.0 system, making the property owner`s mobile number compulsory during document registration. This change comes after frequent cases where document writers and lawyers entered their own numbers instead of the buyer’s or seller’s, preventing official alerts from reaching the actual owner.
With the new rule, owners will now receive notifications on EC requests, certified copy downloads, and any activity related to their property. The department has warned that legal action will be taken if anyone enters a number other than the rightful owner’s.
