With continuous rains triggered by the weakened Ditwah system, the Greater Chennai Corporation, Fire & Rescue Services, and TANGEDCO have stepped up emergency measures across the city. Pumps have been deployed in waterlogging-prone areas, essential supplies are stocked, and trees along major roads are being trimmed to prevent accidents. Control rooms are functioning 24/7 to avoid power disruptions.
Marina Beach Access Banned Until Further Notice
Due to rough sea conditions, high waves, and strong winds, public entry to Chennai’s Marina Beach remains completely banned. Police have set up barricades and are continuously monitoring the stretch. Coastal Security Group and SDRF personnel are also deployed for surveillance.

Fishermen have been strictly advised not to venture into the sea, as ports continue to hoist cyclone warning signals. Authorities warned that rain and wind speeds may increase over the next few hours as the system stays close to the coast.
