Cyclone Ditwah Nears North TN Coast

Cyclone Ditwah , currently located 700 km south–southeast of Chennai, continues to intensify over the southwest Bay of Bengal. According to the Chennai Meteorological Department, the storm is advancing at a speed of 15 kmph and is expected to reach the North Tamil Nadu–Puducherry–South Andhra Pradesh coastal region by early morning on November 30.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam and surrounding districts. Red alert has been issued for seven districts including Chengalpattu, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Tiruvarur and Thanjavur. Chennai may experience extremely heavy rainfall on Nov 29 & 30.
