The price of ornamental gold in Chennai has surged sharply by ₹1,120 within a single day. Today, the price of gold increased twice - by ₹560 in the morning and another ₹560 in the evening.
Gold prices have been fluctuating significantly over the past few days. On November 1, the price of a sovereign stood at ₹90,480. By Tuesday, it had dropped by ₹800 to ₹90,000, and on Wednesday, it fell further by ₹560 to ₹89,440.
However, on Thursday morning, the trend reversed as the price of ornamental gold rose by ₹70 per gram to ₹11,250, while the price of a sovereign increased by ₹560 to ₹90,000.
Later in the evening, as trading neared closure, prices climbed again. A gram of ornamental gold is now being sold at ₹11,320 - up by ₹70 - and a sovereign (8 grams) at ₹90,560, marking a total rise of ₹1,120 for the day.
Meanwhile, silver prices have also increased. The rate has gone up by ₹2 per gram to ₹165, and bullion silver (1 kg) is now being sold at ₹1.65 lakh, up by ₹2,000.
