Southern Railway Adds Extra Coaches on Key Tamil Nadu Trains to Ease Passenger Rush

To ease passenger congestion and improve comfort, Southern Railway has temporarily added extra coaches to several major train routes across Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
The move covers key trains including:
Tambaram – Sengottai Silambu Express (20681 / 20682)
Tambaram – Nagercoil Express (22657 / 22658)
Chennai Central – Thiruvananthapuram Express (12695 / 12696)
Chennai Central – Alappuzha Express (22639 / 22640)
Coimbatore – Rameswaram Express (16618 / 16617)
The additional AC, Sleeper, and General coaches will run till April 2025 on select schedules.
Railway officials said the step is aimed at managing increased passenger traffic and providing better travel facilities during the busy season.
